Kathy Ziegler of San Diego loves what she does for a living. “I once had a Father of the Bride come up to me at the reception and say, “You are only going to know us this one day, but we are going to be looking at your work for the rest of our lives.” What an honor & a huge responsibility we wedding photographers have!”
Kathy & her assistant create fun formal shots and capture all the candid moments that really showcase the emotions of your special day. You can see some of her beautiful images, collages of all her recent events, and references at Kathy Ziegler Art and Photography.

HOW WE MET. We met online in January of 2003, on Matchmaker.com. Deron was from Boston, so I asked him, “What exactly are those Boston Baked Beans candies made of?” He thought this was funny, so he read my profile. The “quick and safe” lunch we planned turned into a fantastic 8 hour date ending by Belmont Park: one mile from where we got married three and a half years later!
THE PROPOSAL. Deron planned a romantic trip to New York City. I spent the entire day oblivious, then he took me to 86th floor observation deck of the Empire State Building. When he got down on one knee in front of the entire crowd and looked up at me, my heart leapt! I could barely talk! I managed to nod my head, he leapt up and said, “I’ll take that for a yes!”
PLANNING THE WEDDING. Planning a wedding while living on opposite sides of the U.S. was hard. We relied on the Internet, friends and family. When we scheduled visits to San Diego, we booked back to back appointments with vendors and went with the feelings in our hearts.
OUR VENDORS. Our most amazing vendor was Kathy Ziegler, from Kathy Ziegler Art and Photography. From the moment we met her, we felt completely at ease. She went above and beyond - she informed us of what time the sun would set on our wedding day, and she sent us great tips on how to make our wedding day and photos superb. My gown and those of my bridesmaids were from PreVue in La Mesa, and the tuxedos came from Friar Tux – both great to work with. We held our wedding and rehearsal dinner at Bahia Resort, and our cake was from Flour Power. Floral Symphony did my flowers, and My Gatsby did our invitations. Blue Pearl Video shot our video, and Dreams Do Come True provided nice chair covers.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES First: take time throughout the process to stop and remember the most important reason you are getting married… love! The bottom line is that you have chosen to spend your life with each other! Second: choose vendors by the chemistry you feel when you meet them. You will feel more relaxed about your decisions and will be able to focus more on the moments at hand. Finally: no matter what you do, something will go wrong. Let it roll right off your shoulders! You want to look back and remember the whole experience as a positive one, reflecting the love that you both share!
